healingsexThursday August 6th, 7-9pm  Overcoming Sexual Fears Discussion Group with Sid Astaire

In this discussion group, we’ll be talking about the fears and potential trauma triggers that prevent us from having the sex we want. This group will be a safe space to share feelings and anxieties that hold us back, and the skills that help us move forward. Whether your fears are rooted in a lack of understanding, religious bias, physical or emotional trauma, or general repression, we will work through them together every first Thursday for the next three months. Our first meeting will determine topics and exercises for future meetings. This discussion requires advance registration on a sliding scale basis $5-15 in advance $15-$25 the day of class ($5 discount to students and affiliate members)

Through their own personal trauma and trials, and through their first-hand experience as a mental health care consumer, Sid has acquired a unique knowledge base of distress tolerance skills and a roadmap for the journey that is recovery. They understand that everyone lives with fear—fear of themselves, their bodies, their desires—and the importance of overcoming these anxieties in order to be fully and completely one’s self. It is because of their journey on the road to recovery that they love teaching and collaborating with others about how to build a life worth living.

Designer Relationships: A Guide to Happy Monogamy, Positive Polyamory, and Optimistic Open Relationships with Patricia Johnson & Mark Michaels

A Class based upon their book exploring
– Monogamy is only one of many valid relationship structures
– Love is not a zero-sum game
– Relating consciously from the start beats “conscious uncoupling”

– Relationships are not and should not be ‘one-size-fits-all’. Tailor what works for you and be willing to make alterations when necessary.

Mark A. Michaels and Patricia Johnson, multi-award winning authors of Partners in Passion and Great Sex Made Simple suggest that contemporary relationships are in a state of rapid evolution. These changes can and should empower people, providing the opportunity to develop partnerships based on their own circumstances, sexualities, understandings, and agreements. In Designer Relationships, Michaels and Johnson offer offer a new paradigm that emphasizes mutuality, a collaborative mindset, empathy, and transparency. They invite us to think outside the open-closed, monogamous-nonmongaoums box. Designer Relationships is also replete with how-to suggestions and exercises. According to Patricia and Mark, designer relationships can encompass: people who bond emotionally but not sexually; people who agree to be non-exclusive; happily single people who have occasional lovers or friends with benefits; multiple partner configurations where long-term bonds exist among all or some; partnerships in which people are kinky and that make room to explore kink, among many others. Designer Relationships provides you with the tools to recognize and then craft a way of loving that works for you.

Sunday August 23rd 2-4pm Connections with Wise

For some bringing the bottom into spacey, happy place and experiencing a good connection is a focus of play. Building that to the point of euphoria has way more to do with communication, emotion, and what’s going on inside our minds than physical technique. There’s all sorts of ways to get to “sub-space” and to empathetically enjoy the high of a partner. This workshop focuses on the idea of connecting with your partner, mentally, emotionally as well as physically. There are ways to connect in any situation, from first time play partners, to intensifying what you already have naturally with a long term, loving partner. You’ll get a chance to try some of the ideas and you can pick what fits for you. And we’ll also cover, how, when you get you bottom into that frame of mind, you can get into an amazing frame of mind as well.

  • First Things First – Where do you want to take them, where to they want to go?
  • Two Easy Things – Do this to establish rapport and make it easy for them to follow your lead. Also useful for social situations, business, even seduction.
  • The Physical – Your physicality and theirs. Deepening connections.
  • Breathing, together. Adapted from Tantra. If you practice this one in the class, you’ll need to be very intimately acquainted with your partner.
  • Do More Than Just Walk In Their Shoes. Is it possible to feel what they feel?
  • Ask Not What You Can Do For Your Audience – Public Play and how the ‘audience’ can enhance connection.
  • When NOT to connect. Sometimes it gets in the way of a great experience. Knowing the difference

Sunday August 23th 6-8pm Intimate Rituals with Wise

Do you have any BDSM Rituals? If you’ve taken the time to develop one, it already means something. Think about the ritual you’re involved in, and what kind of feelings come from that. Would you like that feeling to be stronger? Even more profound? What if the ritual included the values you share with your partner? Not just from words that you speak. But the actions of the ritual, put you both on the same page in a way that both of you can feel. When I first developed my BDSM rituals, the main purpose was to slow down, focus, and make a transition from whatever we were doing before. I started the ritual as a way to allow both myself and my submissive to get into the right frame of mind, to make the transition from the world out there, to our private world of Dominance and submission. They might have had a day where the project is delayed because of staff incompetence, then as they leave work there’s a parking ticket on their car and construction makes them late getting home. Then they’re supposed to sweetly surrender to you with grace and poise. The ritual gives us a moment to breathe, and connect. Our ritual makes our roles clear and gets us into the right frame of mind to perform those roles. As it evolved, it became a way to amplify emotions, and let those emotions evolve. It’s added meaning beyond what I first intended. In our lives, we have many roles. Worker, lover, parent, employee/employer. Were you in the military? You have been a killer and a destroyer of worlds. Literally. Then you fly home and have trouble getting your kids to brush their teeth. Roles are real. Rituals can help you get to where you need to be, to take on that role to the fullest and become even more meaningful.

RESCHEDULED for Sunday, Sept 13th, 6-8pm

Thursday August 27th, 7-9pm Rope 101 with Belle

This beginner level, hands-on class is designed for people with little to no rope background however others are welcome to attend and share their experiences. You will be amazed at the number of things that you can do with just a single knot and a couple of pieces of rope. We will be focusing on column ties and their uses, especially in the bedroom and in the dungeon. There will be particular emphasis placed on safety considerations, different types of rope and rope lengths along with how to choose what is right for you. We will also have a short discussion on different styles of bondage. This class is designed as a combination of discussion and hands-on with time to practice and ask questions at the end of the class. It is useful to bring a partner with you but it is not necessary as all of the ties we will be covering can be done on yourself. Please bring a couple of lengths of rope between 15 and 30 ft. long and a pair of safety shears if you have them. If not, the presenter will have rope for you to borrow for the duration of the class.
Belle- has been actively involved in kink, especially rope for more than four years now. She enjoys it from both sides of the spectrum but in the past two years has really been putting her focus in becoming the best rope top that she can be. Her passions in rope especially include predicament and torturous rope but is an avid student of every style she can get her hands on. Her personal philosophy is that the more she knows, the more she can choose from in each scene to create a unique experience between her and her bottom.

Before moving the Philadelphia, Belle- was a co-founder and co-owner of local chapters of Hitchin’ Bitches and Rope Bite in her hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has a fire for spreading her passion about rope with anyone who will listen while creating a safe space for people of all skill levels to come, learn, share, and grow in their rope skills. Her teaching philosophy is based in the idea that there is no one right way to tie anything. There are only choices and each choice will have its own risks, merits, and responsibilities.

Thursday September 10th 7-9pm Belle’s 8th Class in her Series, Putting The Pieces Together

The final class in this series is going to take all of the ties learned throughout and show you how to arrange them to create shapes with the body. We will look at how to create strain, positions for sex, and positions that are simply beautiful to look at. We will also practice using the ties learned in combination with free form tying to create new and interesting positions outside of the standard Japanese ties. By doing this first on the ground, we begin to understand how the body moves and which positions will and will not work.
